@JetpakClam i would add the brilliant romans generals-emperors: Basil the 2nd , Nikiphoros Phokas, John I Tzimiskes,and Manuel Komninos who halted muslim
expansion with their aggressive wars from the 9th century until the end of 12th century, closing the eastern gates of europe for muslim expansionism.
in essence their were the first crusaders.

An ancestor of mine, the Baron Guillem de Claramunt, accompanied James to the conquest of Mallorca in the Count of Montcada's host. After the death of the Count, his nephew and heir and many other knights at the Battle of Portopí, he demanded a revenge and recommended the king to behead several hundred of prisioners and throw his heads over the walls of Medina Mayurca with catapults.

@LenGarc add another eighty greats
I can't believe James really thought so fondly of Innocent III, given the circumstances of his father's death, fighting against the Albigensian Crusaders. A bit of necessary political flattery maybe? I see some of this footage is of neo-Templars having a ritual at Rosslyn Chapel, btw (a building that actually has no Templar connection). These neo-Templar types were just leaving after a night ritual when I visited the chapel once, having arrived very early in the morning.

@dashinvaine
If you read James' book in its entirety, he doesn't seem too fond of the memory of the Albigensians. James was a deeply orthodox Catholic and took religion very seriously even for a medieval personality.
