Fascinating and revealing; many thanks.
But, a puzzle: if the new method was good enough for Newcomen engines, why do we find only three coke furnaces (the Darbys') forty years after Darby's initiative? His patent must have expired well before, so why were ironmasters so slow to adopt the new technique?
It's clear from rising charcoal prices why it became popular from the 1750s, but why not before when smelting with coke was already cheaper, and it seems, just as effective?

You are awesome, you saved my project for school. I wasn't able to find direct information on why the Industrial Revolution started in England until I happened upon this video and your others, thank you so much for making these!
