This Shabad (hymn) "Deh Siva Bar Mohay Ihai" is sung by Bibi Gurdev Kaur OBE and Sikh Nari Manch Choir. It is recorded in album "Core Hymns of Sikhism". This Shabad is the National Anthem of Sikhs and is sung before starting Sikh events. This Shabad comes from a long Bani (scripture) Chandi Charitter by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Guru of Sikhs. The translation of this Shabad is also sung as a hymn " Grant me this gift" and can be listened to @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5mDw39HpW4

The aspirants who cannot read Punjabi can read along in Hindi and can also learn Punjabi with the help of Hindi as the captions are given in both languages. Extra diacritical marks (given in the original script for grammer and translation) that are not pronounced in reciting the Bani, are removed from Hindi script to make the reciting pure and easy for the aspirants.

Bibiji, teaches this Shabad to the children at Gurrmat Camps. She is a teacher, renowned Sikh scholar, author, musician and composer. She founded the first ever Sikh Women's Choir in 1998 and named it Sikh Nari Manch, which would have the purpose of empowering and educating women in the greatness and depth of Sikhism through Kirtan and other activities. Bibi Gurdev Kaur OBE strongly believes that "If you educate a man, you educate one individual but if you educate a women, you educate the whole family and in the long run the whole socitey benefits". All women were from different ages and backgrounds and had never sung a note in their lives before. Bibi Gurdev Kaur OBE vigorously trained them, writing Punjabi in English for young girls and English in Punjabi for older women, and enabled them to perform at Gurdwaras and Interfaith Events.

This Shabad has been performed by the group at many interfaith events as the Choir is regularly invited to perform at many prestigious events and venues. In 1999 the group performed at the Royal Albert Hall in the presence of HRH Prince Charles, Symphony Hall, Birmingham in the presence of then Prime Minister Tony Blair, Guild Hall, Southampton and many other places including Gurdwaras in Amritsar, Chandigarh and other cities in India to celebrate the tercentenary of the Khalsa (Sikhism).
The group has recorded many albums of Kirtan but "God Is One" album is very special as it contains core hymns of Sikhism. The beauty of this album is that each Shabad is sung first in the original script, then is translated in English rhyme and sung in English as a hymn.

In 1999, Bibi Gurdev Kaur OBE was awarded the most prestigious "Mata Sahib Kaur Award" as an outstanding Sikh woman in Europe, by Tercentenary Committee at Anand Pur Sahib for her varied contributions to propagate Sikhism. BBC World Service prepared and broadcasted a special programme on Bibi Gurdev Kaur's bilingual Sikh devotional music in 2001 and she received "Bhai Mardana Award" for her unique music style in 2002. In 2006 Sikh Nari Manch was awarded the Queen's Jubilee Award for Voluntary Service for its work with the community at large.

Sikh Nari Manch is a Registered Charity and runs "Northside Welcome Centre" in Erdington, in the North of Birmingham where everyone is welcomed in the spirit of Sikhism; "Sarbatt da Bhalla".
