After taking care of some morning errands, I had all my equipment (including my scanner) with me. I flipped the scanner on and caught the tail end of a transmission, between M334 and a foreman. 334 was requesting permission through the work limits at M.P. 9. He was granted permission. I headed over to the tracks, to await its arrival.

I then headed out to Mazon, to meet up with Matt and Kyron. The NS' B27 was working in Dwight, at the Donnelly Plant, so we headed out there. It was finishing up its switching, as we arrived. Here, it crosses the diamond (crossing of the UP Joliet Sub and the NS Kankakee Line).

We headed back to Mazon for a bit, but the BNSF wasn't active. I decided to head back towards home. While driving through Coal City, I saw a westbound headlight on the BNSF. I caught it flying through the countryside. I was a little too far away to see the numbers.

Here's where things got interesting. I was nearing my house, when I heard the CN RTC talking to the CN 5557 south. "Cool, an SD60F. Sounds like a State Line." At the time, he was fifteen minutes from the Rock. He would receive the signal at about 6:30. I headed into town and set up at Rowell. While the train was on the way, the crew was requesting another track authority from the RTC. The RTC said that he had to clear up an authority from a westbound first. Next thing I knew, I heard "RTC Desk 11 to the BCOL 4622, at Frankfort." Oh yeah! It received an authority from Frankfort to Joliet and was instructed to move after the passing of the 5557 east. 5557 showed up at Rowell, with a trio of IC SD70's following. It was, indeed State Line loads. Who ever said the IC was fading? They're a work horse in the land of CN! I'm not very good at determining these things, but the fourth unit sounds offline.

I hopped on Route 52 and got ahead of the State Line, for another shot. Nice crew on this train.

After the Route 52 shot, I headed west to Frankfort, to get a visual of the BCOL. There it was, sitting on the Main. As all eastbounds do, the 5557 headed down the siding.

After 5557 cleared, BCOL 4622 started 'em up and was on the move, westbound. To my surprise, it was leading taconite empties. One unit is also a surprise. Still cool, nonetheless.

It was about time for the Iowa Interstate BICB, so I headed into New Lenox. For some odd reason, it didn't show. Later checking of the bridge in Joliet showed it in the up position, so BICB wasn't anywhere nearby. Hmmm... Oh well, I still caught the deadhead train number 6062. 6062 deadheads from Joliet to Blue Island, then makes all the scheduled stops to Chicago.

While leaving New Lenox, I heard the BCOL 4622 clearing up its track authority and requesting signal indication at the bridge, to head north. I got on I-80, took it to I-55, got off at Route 30 and headed to Renwick Road in Plainfield. I owe a big thanks to a BNSF stack, because if it hadn't been for it clearing on the connection, blocking the BCOL's path, I most likely wouldn't have made it. So, thanks BNSF! 4622's K5L sings beautifully into the night.
