This is rehearsal footage of "Jack's Lament" in my studio's production of "The Nightmare Before Christmas". We used Danny Elfman's music from "Corpse Bride" - "Victor's Piano Solo".

The costume is entirely hand painted. I wear full-face makeup during the actual performance.

I am an adult "late-starter", and I began dancing when I was 19 years old. I have now been dancing for almost 5 years. I love ballet, and for me, ballet is love and life. I am not any less of a dancer because I did not start when I was 3. I started when I wanted to, and I take delight in all movement, whether it be pre-professional or not. You do not have to be a professional dancer to enjoy dance, and adult amateur dancers deserve to be respected for their brave plunge into a world that is not entirely welcoming or accepting of them.

  • Aw, I wanted to see the rest :L Very good xD I don't even know how I came across this video..

  • This is incredible! Beautiful dancing, and I love the costume.

  • Re: your explanation of the video. Well said!

  • This is just amazing! You are so expressive and you model your movements and emotions perfectly in sync. You are one talented performer.

  • Wow! this... just.. wow haha. This is really beautiful and strong and.. I'm speechless. Really. It's lovely hearing you say that you were a late starter dancer. I was never confident enough to say the same. I love ballet so much and I took a class several years ago, but I figured that since I didn't start off as a child, I wouldn't be able to consider myself professional or anything. Watching this makes me feel courageous enough to continue taking classes. You have my utmost admiration!

  • I got scared the moment you got scared, lol.

  • Sweetheart you look fabulous! I think technique is just as important as expression and you have to emotion in each step! You are telling a story without words after all!

  • This is so amazing, I hope to be like you one day!!
