  • Blackdog and vhII are my favorite...the vhii would be perfect in a custom 24 lol and the black dog would be an awsome choice in a brighter superstrat for a satriani kind of tone!

  • The BlackDogs sound thinnish. The SG has a lot of presence, it's quite in your face. I'm not crazy about the P91/92 pair, they seem to cut well, but are too mid-gainy for my taste without being great for either cleans or high gain. The Emerald sounds somewhat dark to me with a bit more output than a stock LP Standard pickup, not too different though.

Of all these pickups, I think I'd opt for a ColdSweat with more bite – but I'm into heavier metal styles.

    Thanks for your effort!

  • Nice demo! Some loose thoughts – that don't seem to fit into the ridiculous 500 character limit of youtube...

The ColdSweats sound warm and full for clean and nicely saturated with some gain, but have no bite really; they work well for soulful solos, but lack some kick. While other pickups sound good in one or more riffs, the Music Man Axis pickups work quite well all round. I don't like the VHIIs for clean or distorted chords, perhaps unsurprisingly they seem to be aimed at solo playing only.

  • \m/_:-)_\m/ Yeahhh!
