*PLEASE NOTE!* Despite my references in this video, www.crowtheraudio.net is NOT affiliated with Paul Crowther or his products and should be disregarded entirely. My apologies to Paul for the mix-up.

The Hotcake is one of the pedal industry's longest running and most loved success stories. Developed by Paul Crowther back in 1976, the Hotcake has really had just one addition made to it and that's the relatively recent introduction of the 'Bluesberry' Version - Side A of the Double Hotcake. Side B is the 'normal' version. Both versions are also available individually. Paul says that the Bluesberry version sounds a little less solid state at the onset of distortion. It's great at lower drive settings. Hopefully that will be demonstrated here.

The Hotcake is one of the true originals. I have had mine for over two weeks and I'm still discovering its charms. I prefer to use it a lower gain settings and then stack the channels to bring in the third Gain (whilst also bypassing Channel A, a concept that it took a minute or two to get my head around) for shredsville. It's a great pedal; a classic, I would say. I was wondering what the fuss was about and now I know. This one stays with me.

This is one of 4 videos I've made for the Double Hotcake. On this channel you will also find a dedicated video the 'normal' side of the Double Hotcake using a Tele to Bassman, a general overview filmed and recorded with a Les Paul to Bassman, and this video which is also a general overview with a Tele to Bassman.

Cheers,

  • I like this video. Good pedal into good amp! I love Bassman and it's a shame people don't use Bassman that much in their pedal videos.

  • I really like the A side, seems like it doesn't have the abrupt ending, fizzy note decay, or at least only very minimally.

  • awesome album :)

  • very voxy

  • Wow! It sparkles nicely!
