  • When Normie Rowe began his career (at the Circle Ballroom in Preston, Melbourne) the Playboys were Phil Blackmore, Neil McArthur, Billy Billings, Graham Trottman and John Cartwright. Are these guys a later version?

    This is the changed line-up for Normie's UK trip in late 1966.

    John Cartwright left and was not replaced. Brian Peacock replaced Neil (bass) & Rod Stone replaced Billy (Guitar) Both these guys were formerly in NZ group, "The Librettos."

    In the opening shot of the video they are, L to R...

    Rod Stone, Phil Blackmore, Graham "Trotta" Trottman, & Brian Peacock.

  • Thanks for the info, The original lineup was primarily an Instrumental group and had a few successful releases in Melbourne before their association with Normie Rowe, I have great memories of the Playboys and Colin Buckley and the Raiders at the Circle Ballroom in Preston, my first experience of live Guitar rock in the early 60's.
