We tried our snorkeling while we stayed in Cancun. This was our second snorkeling experience. Out first was at Xel-ha. We took the tour van over to a private beach somewhere in Playa Del Carmen and from there went on a small boat. First we snorkeled in shallow section and then a little deeper section. Brand new world in there! I've seen pictures and movies of underwater world many times but I didn't realize how beautiful until I experienced it myself.

I bought the camera right before this trip. Since this camera doesn't look like an underwater camera, people were looking at me very nervously at first. I was very nervous, too...but it worked out great. After I came back on the boat, I rinsed it off with fresh water.

I tried to stay put to capture beautiful corals and fish but wave kept moving me about...I guess there is no 'steadycam' for underwater.
One thing I regret is that I forgot all about the Underwater scene mode. It was supposed to take out excessive green or blue....I wished I remembered to use it. Well, next time I will make sure.

I created the 720P MPG file using Corel Video Studio.

It is true, I just watched a short movie taken with iPhone camera and it was brilliant. I also have DSLR, too, so I know that it's not the camera that's grotesque but the lack skill to use it properly....I need to get trained!

  • @mikayom cool, but you know what they say, its not what the camera looks like that matters, but what kind of pictures it takes. I think thats why SLR's are so grotesque lol

I got the boring gray. I wanted the orange one but wasn't available when I bought it.

  • @mikayom Haha that's hilarious! I love the camera too you get carried away. What color did you get?

  • @redw22

    Thanks!

Yes, I did see the setting...but while I was snorkeling I was so exicted that I forgot all about it.

Next time I will rememeber it, though.

  • @jbr230 there is an underwater setting on the camera under scenes specifically for underwater video and stills.

    I just about pissed myself....haha

It's Te Fuiste para Cancún by Gil Rivera y su Grupo Gitano. Glad you liked it! Even though I don't understand what he's singing about other than something about Cancun, it sounded perfect.

Most of the time I had it on iA setting where I didn't have to worry about anything at all. Since I do not like flash, I used 'P" setting indoors to keep it from popping up.

  • what setting did you use to film this other than motion jpg? the dial was turned to where? :)
