  • hilarious: "how oneness is experienced"

is no one noticing the absurdity of claiming something can be experienced but that everything is all one (therefore NO personal existence/experience)

even gramatically it is faulty: if "we" or "everything" is all one then what are "we" and "everything" and why are we subordinate to "oneness"

its absurd extremist and potentially fanatical in westerners hands :-P

  • could it equally be said that oneness gives power internal thought and not the other way. Wow, who/what is buddha and why must i kill him or it? As for this idea that religion is only created by the mind coz it fears death =bs. and it is an insult to religion which is so much more than death. If just a dream then call it a death of ur dream instead of death to your body that doesn't exist. And if you don't exist why would physical or emotional pain inflicted upon anyone or anything matter?

  • could it equally be said that oneness gives power to the internal thought and not the other way around.

  • @nuttymanyelismate Sorry, that's like someone who's deaf who says music is just a thought.

Death's simple. It's like going into a deep, dreamless sleep and not waking up. No problem.

    But that's not LIFE.

Right now, your ego-centric mind is scrambling around, rationalizing because it doesn't have a neat conceptual answer.

I'm asking you to jump from conceptual thought to real experience.

YOU said, "If you should see the buddha on the road durring your tavels, kill him."

    So, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

  • @goog2k 'I' respect your views on this 'subject' as much as you respect 'mine.'

But here goes..... Zen is only a word thought up by the mind and then written down on paper, the word 'Zen.' It really means no more than the word flower. Mind creates religion because it fears death. It does not understand what death is. It looks at it as annihilation. Annihilation is final and the mind cannot deal with this. So it creates a religion that says there is an afterlife so it can continue.

  • @nuttymanyelismate That's all very true, but still doesn't answer the question.

Zen is very direct and REAL! -- beyond words and understanding.

A famous Zen Master said, "If you meet the Buddha on the road, you must KILL the Buddha!"

(Your understanding is very clear, but how do you answer the question? It's a game and if you decide to play you can experience something beyond mere understanding.)

You already understand there is no Buddha outside of you.

So, how do you "kill" the Buddha?

  • @goog2k: If 'you' meet the 'Buddha' on the road, it will be in the dream of reality.

When the dream ends there is no Buddha, no you. just this.

  • @nuttymanyelismate Very wise and insightful. I don't disagree with anything you say.

However, an accomplished zen master would say you're still stuck in the weeds. Why???

So, I'll ask you the same question, "If you meet the Buddha on the road, you must kill him. How do you kill the Buddha???"

Again - please be careful. The sword has two edges.

  • @thered702 LOL!!! Of course.

However, if you think for even one moment you are separate from the Buddha, the road, or "nuttymanyelismate", you are already dead.

There is a famous zen koan, "If you meet the Buddha on the road, you must kill him."

So, how do you kill the Buddha???

(Please be careful. Don't commit seppuku.)

  • @nuttymanyelismate "If you should see the buddha on the road durring your tavels, kill him."

for there can be no higher authority on this reality, than your own perception.
