Results of the field test performed on 30.September 2010 with the 450 size prototype camera mount for the RC Logger with attached GPS sensor and camera control servo. The wind was considerable strong (as you can here from the rotor blade noise) but the mounting kit did a perfect job as anticipated.
Effects related to the helicopters mechanical vibration where completely eliminated. The helicopter performed well even that we had considerable strong wind conditions for a camera flight. The mount was installed on an Align Trex 450 Pro. We increased the head speed to around 85% at 50% throttle and decreased the gyro gain to 50% on our Futaba T8FG.
We are generally very pleased with the result and are going to modify the camera mount for trial production run. Various parts will be replaced with carbon fiber to reduce weight influences and to enhance stability.
We target to have the camera mount in production and ready for shipment in January 2011. Check for details at RCLogger.Com or here on our YouTube channel. A camera mount for 500/600 size helicopters will be made available too.
@1BLADESHY : So far so good. Tests will continue next week. But I believe the result is already pretty good especially if you look at the camera facing down, there is zero vibration effect and that is what we wanted to prove. Now I just need to get myself to fly a bit smoother.
I am looking forward to next weeks test where we will be attaching and connection all three currently available modules whereby one will be brand new at that day. Fingers crossed.
