Population explosion is primarily driven by religions. Much like FaceBook, he who ends up with the most followers wins! World Wars help drive down population numbers, but we haven't had an all in War for 65 years now.
Secondly population growth is driven by big business. To get their big profit growths they need more consumers to be born than die each year. And if there was family planning 40 years ago in places like Africa, people wouldn't be starving today. That's the ugly truth.

Most of Australia's problems are self-inflicted and the direct result of bad policies by inept, wasteful and crooked politicians. People like Bob can wax lyrical about what is, may be or ought to be, when his lifestyle is a tax-payer funded affair. Lack of vision and unwillingness to develop this country has always been one of our biggest problems. Our brightest don't stay here, they go overseas, because in Australia we discourage brilliance and kill opportunities as a matter of course.

Even though Bob Carr talks about food shortages, his solution to population growth is to force people into high rise slums. He is an underhand apologist for the property developers while posing as a critic o Krudd's Big Australia, with uncertain allusions to Ehrlich and the limited capacity of Australia and the world to feed its population.
-
He may feel that population growth should be halted, but until it is he seems to imply that Australia should take its 'fair share' of excess people, even though it means destroying living standards and social cohesion.

Australian politician continually avoid questions about overpopulation. Could this be because they have a vested interest in population driving the demand for property? Why don’t the backs invest into a study to determine just how many people can be supported by the viable land in Australia? Then we can know for sure what the human population limit is and how many other species we should let live.

pumping water from the deep water table will set a extremely hard task ahead for future people and life on and all over the lands of austrailia. such a practice is certainly taking a problem and ignorantly sealing its fate. there is a science of plantlife which does encourage water and enviromental change.

@grievox Dominant personalities like ours! LOL! Speak for yourself! But no, you're right, just kidding, I wish everyone would just wake the hell up! And yes I agree votes are rigged which is why I don't get why people put up with being fined if they don't vote. they are so alseep it hurts. We can only focus on them waking up then see what happens. Too much TV? Too much beer? Too many chemicals.. maybe it's time to move on...
-
The voting is rigged as well for the two major parties to retain control. It must be. how could it not be? I really just can't work out how intelligent the average person is though. Its really a mystery to me. people are generally gutless or stupid. I just don't know which because they just won't tell me.lol

@TruthSeekingElf Its like in business. The price of your product can't go up until everyone else is shitted off enough to raise their prices too. And in the west they give us just enough so that its not worth losing your life over a revolution(keep us docile) .Just frustrating for dominant personalities like ours. This won't stop until white supremicists in a america or england stage a military coup. It'll take another 2 decades at least for our living standards to drop as much as theirs.
@dv8wolfie "Dictator"??? I don't think so. We need more people like Bob Carr and Dick Smith to stand up and speak out. Nobody is listening to the "average Australian" so I for one am glad these people have a voice that can be heard.

"Come back Bob" indeed! He had the brains to understand the impact population has on our environment, the guts to argue against high immigration, and the power to get it reduced... at least for a while.
