Some bus drivers are just dangerous!

This idiot was driving with no consideration for the cyclist (me!) on the road. Remorse was not in his vocabulary! Driver is captured on video. Bus plate is visable at the end - Rego: 7712. He was driving the 280 Warringah Mall service, arriving at 17:26 on 2nd September 2010.

I am a professional heavy vehicle driver and also a cyclist. To attain the right to use a heavy vehicle on public roads I had to undertake 5 weeks of intensive RTA driver training, pass additional RTA knowledge tests, undertake regular RTA supervised driving assessments, have regular medical tests, and continue ongoing professional development. To attain the right to use my bicycle on a public road I had to buy a bike and a helmet. I rest my case. Mr Bristow "Some cyclists are just dangerous"

@phillstead - I agree with you - there are bad apples in every barrel, however in this case the bus driver should refer himself back to his training and ongoing professional development. The operative word in your statement, and in mine is 'Some'!

While the first bus driver might have been a bit too close, the second bus driver had the right of way, yet this cyclist sees fit to force the bus driver to stop.

From my observations, cyclists are the worst road users on the road, with the majority of them breaking the road rules. It is high time that cyclist have licences.

@platformone - Urmm... the buses in the clip are one in the same. I was stopping the bus to get a video id of the driver in order to illicit comeback!

Please, please, please, if you haven't done so already, report this through the appropriate channels: w w w .131500.com.au/customer-servic­e/feedback/. I did this with a similar incident recently and was really pleased with the investigation and response. Apparently buses (some or all?) have 6 cameras which should corroborate your footage.

Glad to see you rode away from this - it was only inches from being so much different.

I don't have to read any guidelines about NSW Roadrules clearly your trying to pin something on the bus driver for no reason What are you doing with a camera in your hand whilst cycling on the road and tailgating the bus anyway ?.

@crispybus People on bicycles are allowed to use bus lanes in NSW. Google "NSW Bus Lanes" and click the RTA page which should be the first result.

I dont want to stir up shit but he probably didnt see you. And Im serious too,because sometimes when its just getting dark you guys are the hardest things to see on the road when there is a sea of red and white lights. I driver for State Transit and we constantly hear about bikes getting knocked over and sometimes you will find that the driver wont stop because he seriously didnt see you. As for stopping when you tried,rule one is never open the door for a road rager. Take extra care please.

Clearly he was being an idiot because he had plenty of room to get back in the left lane before stopping at the bus stop on on Pittwater Road; no reason to cut you off.

Get ya bike off the road, use a bike lane or the footpath.

Why on earth would you ride a bke on a road moving at 10-20 kph when every bodyelse would be moving at 50kph and above.

The law may say you can use the road but common sense is to stay off it and away from vehicles that could kill you if you get hit.

Your at warringah mall, EVERYONE had to goto the northern beaches has to use this road and as a frequent bus user it FUCKING SHITS ME how cycalists ride down the bus lane on burnt bridge deviation and pittwater road. if its peak hour ride on the back streets for fuck sake!!! there are like 100 people on a bus and 1 of you. why the hell should u get priority
