Ridge Racer (Sony Playstation): Beginner Track

A great racing game from the Arcade era ported as one of the first titles to be released for the Sony Playstation (U.S.A. release) back in circa September 9th, 1995 along with Battle Arena: Toshinden.

I remember that evening like it was yesterday. Arriving at the Dutchess Mall in Fishkill, New York (may it rest in pieces as it was gutted out and replaced with a Home Depot center), entering through the far left entrance of the mall, and walking towards a store called Walden Software (which is now the Game Stop / EB Games franchise) to pick up a newly arrived Playstation and a couple of games... JOYGASM!


Enough with the trip down memory lane! I'm not much of a fan to racing games, but Ridge Racer always had a special place in my heart, so I decided to dust off what is left of the in-game arcade style driving skills on a quest to unlock the Black Lamborghini once again!

and to the Ridge Racer enthusiasts, bite me! For picking the Ryukyu "Pacman" car.

And the announcer still sounds like a douche bag (the sweet sounds of gaming in the early 90s!)
