Sheffield's Cabret Voltaire were part of the "first wave" of industrial music (TG, SPK, etc).
Using electronic beats and video in their live performance, they originated the sound later known as "techno-industrial".
IMHO the best work by S.Mallinder and R.Kirk is on "Microphonies", "Crackdown", and "Covenant, Sword, and Arm of the Lord" reeased 83-85, and the 86 video release "Gasoline In Your Eye".
In your humble opinion you are absolutely fucking correct! Awesome work from this period. Not a big fan of earlier work. I do like Code though. This is perhaps my favourit track (or Kino) and it's a great argument for extended 12" versions.
Definitely my favourite video of Gasoline. Will it ever come out on DVD? If you have not seen Live at the Hacienda check it out.
Thanks!!
