First of all the Avro Vulcan not Vulcan maiden flight was in 1952 until disbanding in 1982. B-52 roll out ceremony on 18 March 1954, On 26 September 1958, a B-52D set a world speed record of 560.705 miles per hour (487 kn, 902 km/h) over a 10,000 kilometers. The Vulcan Cruise speed: Mach 0.86 (567 miles per hour (912 km/h)) at 45,000 ft so thay are similar speed wise but the range is much lower the the B-52.
