We like to feed the blue jays peanuts, and we only give them a handful a day. I bought a special treat for them, and bought some hazelnuts, and shelled them before putting them out. They are pigs, but they love nuts. With over 45 inches of snow so far this winter, they need the energy, as it is almost impossible to find anything naturally. They will take from the stash, and then go back to their homes to store, or quickly eat in the oak trees.

  • I feed my Blue Jays peanuts every day. I just scatter them on the ground and have a flock of Blue Jays in no time. Beautiful birds who I don't think are mean at all. Remember they have to defend themselves against predators (namely rats...err I mean squirrels).

  • The blue jays over in my neighborhood arent that mean. Ive seen them cooperate with doves and sparrows

  • Lol I live in Minnesota and they are bad ive seen them chase so many other birds away from the feeders
