I admire the men who work making metal welding because they breath metal vapours and gases. I don't know if in the UK it is a well paid work, is it?

@joseinbush All depends on the type of welding. It can range from £400.00p per 37 hour week to £3000.00p for 60 hour week. i.e steel shop fabrications to high pressure pipelines and nuclea work..

I guess my hopes of welding an exhaust out of formed Inco sheet, at home... are a bit far fetched.

@soundslikescience It can be done with the proper equipment and technique. Take it to a fab shop that welds stainless steel. Maybe they can help.

@skoldrink Correct. This was a Petrology job for Subsea7 who own Petrology. Petrology as such, no longer exists.

I am a Steamfitter/Welder. I work in the refineries and power plants in CA. I just realized what a sorry ass I'm being for watch welding videos. I'm going back to what I like to use you tube for...posting and watching videos of me and my friends hang gliding and enjoying after work air sport activities....so ashamed....so so so ashamed.

Obviously only inconel clad pipes.Anything purged is a piece of piss.

@hollycan Those numbers are not bad, somewhat better than for Argentinean workers indeed, I've heard. Inconel welding is art, not everyone can. Congrats.

@anchortrap the fumes from inconel are very harmful. No smoke does not mean no fumes
