You did a great job ! I have my grandfathers 1964 Duratech 17' sportboat which has been in the family since new in 65. I got it in late 80's. Thinking of restoring it like new and putting a 90 OMC on it now ! What did u use for primer/paint ?...Ed.

We are almost finished. Actually I named it the Silverback, so I am keeping the bottom black(which we repainted) and the top a grayish silver. We have decals of a silver back gorilla for it and I think it's going to look great. Iwill join the forum too.
Thanks,
Tom :)

I am restoring my dads 16' Duratech Aluminum Runabout that he had redesigned about 20 yrs ago. The front top was removed and replaced with a fishing deck. A single console with windshield was installed for the driver only and a livewell was put in between the driver and passenger seat. I am replacing all the wood in the boat. Everything was gutted before I got it and I'm not sure where to put foam. Can I use the pink foam insulation the use in houses now?

@sixstrings24 If you can't locate marine grade floatation foam, I know of a guy who used pool noodles under the flooring and upper decking of his Duratech. Tied cinder blocks to these things and swamped'em for days to test first...did not absorb any water.

It's a shame you stripped all that blue vinyl off to paint it, was it peeling or something? I have a 63' Marlin and the vinyl coating is one of the best things about the boat, my vinyl has held up better than any paint ever could - cool boat though duratech rocks!

@djchuckieb DJ Chuckie B, yes she was peeling. You can see the peeling in the video, and the 'bald' spots. I always discourage anyone from stripping the vinyl, but mine was bad. Have you emailed us at the Duratech website before?
