Mica was my congressman when I lived in Florida, and i have to say, out of all Republican shitheads that have come out of that swamp, Mica is the one that earned my respect.

tehlime, When did SSA create jobs? This w/a surplus fund, now pay as you go. & how many people remain to support SSA now? The over looked part is this 79 m people are idle, opening jobs, w/have money to spend, especially luxuries, if it weren't taken away from them. Corps receive tax expense credit, the 1/2, but the govern says that 1/2 was not tax. Therefore, SSA recipients have to pay tax on it. It's another Ponzi scheme. To sppt this, we have to grow taxpayers. Next move, legalize illegals.

lamour, we had 80 kids in my classroom, a standard of 96-100 = A, pot holes to get there. Now we have olympic pools, freeways, and 90-100 =A. How do you figure the fed can do what the state has already done? Like reps or not, they are the only line of defense to quit spending. Welfare only beget welfare.

China is outspending because they had no infrastructure. We are a 3rd world nation now, you just don't realize it. Check immigrant gumballs here on Utube. Get out of the trees and look at the forest. Billions of $ are sent back to illegals countries so much so the country counts it as part of GNI. I already pay for all these services, plus tax, plus add'l city tax, county tax plus the lottery earnings. We need Steven Jobs, Nike, Gates, not nationalized infrastructure that's 3rd world.

That was my point. The sun belt w/ benefit & I lived in LA, know the problem. However, it was not the WPA that saved our rears, it was the changeover to war munitions factories. Why didn't he ask the auto industry to make mass transportation? We have too many cars, too many demands for an old industry. These are the wrong jobs. Good for the immediate but not long run. The midwest has 2 ft of snow on the ground & can't work but 6 mos yr. Please see Immigrant gumballs. Next vote w/b the illegals.

Here in SoCal, the gas tax doesn't even cover our 15 mph freeways. Sitting in a line of single passenger SUVs makes you realize how stupid and inefficient our transportation system is. Only government is capable of the kind of investment needed to break that cycle.

If we don't start spending on new infrastructure, we'll look more and more like Mexico. Maybe in the future we'll wind up with an emmigration problem instead. Imagine Mexico putting the final touches on our wall.

Besides Mica loves Roads but hates Amtrak. So much for transit funding!

If he could get his collegues to stop insisting on more tax cuts, so we could include more public transportation, and not just high speed rail which just gets him headlines, then and only then could I really trust this guy's so-called support for 21st century infrastructure.

What mass transportation? I thought it was bridges and roads. Old infrastructure. We already have a gas tax to cover these expenses, both state and fed, and the lottery money. The only states needing add'l funds are the ones needing to accomodate the illegals. Why are we all supposed to bail out Pelosi and the rest of the southern belt? Apple, Microsoft came out of the last bad time and by tax incentives, not bail out.
