Notice: THIS IS A VERY OLD VIDEO! Several years old, so saying that i look stupid and need to improve is quite redundant.

So... many many years ago, I made this here big ass LARP grade sword. I guess its a kind of claymore or zweihander due to its size, but i've seen bigger... hehe
Originally made so I could trace poses from the footage for my drawings.
yes I once looked like that - and its my parrents' backyard

also, regarding the 'style' or 'skill' of the sword flailing around... then thats about it - in LARP you dont use real swordfighting, you tap people, you dont hit so hard it hurts. part of whats tricky to learn is to fight well but not hurt people.

  • you should try remaking this video but in your orc armor

  • @treganbri I don't really use this sword anymore, but I did just get a new battery for my camera, so I can shoot some new movie clips next time I got LARPing. Would me in orc costume with my double axe (see the newer LARP vids I got) be ok?

  • I really like the sword, f´king epic!

Though a sword that looks awesome should be wielded with style.

Please, learn to use it, study japanese and european swordsmanship a while, it is´nt that hard.

Because all I see here is a bunch of thoughtless swinging.

You could have just filmed it instead, giving us a great look at the beutifull weapon.

If I were to encounter you swinging the sword like that in a larp I would facepalm and kick your ass, hard... then I would slit your throat...

    over and out.

  • @Bladkuf well - if you read the description you'd know that this is a really old video. Second, I did later take classes in sword fighting and proper armed close-combat techniques. Third, if you check out my other vids you'd see that my current prefered weapon is my custom polearm double-axe - and after years of fighting with it, then I'd argue that I am quite proficient in that. :)

  • @webkilla And on the part with fighting with larp-weapons differently, you dont!

In larp battles I fight like I would with a real sword, only a bit faster, and I get angry when people hit me really light with just a small movement of the wrist.

If they want to inflict some damage, they have to at least make it realistic, you cant hit a person with a sword the same way you hit a drum with the drumstick.

Use some force, but do it in a controled manner, and do it like it´s real, then I accept it.

  • @Bladkuf Well, that all depends on the rules actually - where I play you're not allowed to stab or thrust with weapons (its both a safety issue and a question latex weapons wearing down real quick if you do that) You even have to pull your blows, so while stricking with full force might land a hit faster, then its not allowed. Something about the GMs not liking it when the kids cry

plus, this video was purely for show - trust me, I know proper tactical 'poke-fu' when it comes to latex weapons.

  • @webkilla ok

  • @webkilla Yeah, sorry for not reading the description. And on the theory on getting better, yes you have, but from what I´ve seen you are still using a lot of unnecessary moves, you don´t keep you´r stance, and you stab too far, try to keep it close and controled, then you dont have to find yourself with that nice looking haldbard on the outer side of my shield with my sword in your gut.

And on the sword-part, you are too defensive, be offensive and get inside his reach the moment he strikes.

  • @ezimora1 thank you. i have honestly considered flaying it and redoing it, since i can do textures so much better these days - but i wont... this thing is just too cool to fiddle with

  • nice sword
