When you SIV your brand new Gin Sprint, you don't normally want to wash it twice in 2 days.
1st wash, release of the full stall is asymmetric as the right break line catches on my glove. What is interesting is how I fail to save it with further full stalls. Reserve release is late.
2nd wash, an apparent case of brain failure recovering a deliberate flat spin. The riser twist was accompanied by a massive cravat, more than I wanted to deal with.

  • What was your instructor's diagnosis for the failure to recover from the the stalls? The first couple were really nice. It looks like the glider is diving on recovery and perhaps you didn't "check" the dive quickly enough? Great presence of mind though to stall out the first cravatte instead of just throwing immediately... Safe flying!

  • Hi playboater15

First one to go bad was because one break line caught on my glove, hence the left wing surged. From then on I never really got on top of it, despite trying. The subsequent full stalls were from unbalanced positions, releases were suboptimal, and surge not controlled. The lesson is it's easy to do a full stall from quiet flight, much harder when things are already out of control. Best would have been to really hold the first recovery stall longer, get settled, but .... ;-)

  • I like how the first time you waring jeans, and the second time oyur waring your swim shorts!

I dident know you could do this kind of stuff with a LTF 1/2, i was thinking of getting a Rebel, but after seeing this i think the Sprint will do me fine!

  • The Sprint is pretty dynamic, infact amazingly for a 1/2. The Rebel is a good wing, but now actually a bit of an old design. The Sprint glides almost as well as the Rebel. and is more forgiving. For Big wingovers and asymetric spirals, the Rebel has more adrenaline. But the Sprint is not too far behind.

For XC in Alpine areas, I think it's always good to err on the side of some extra safety. Depends if you are a competition minded or recreational pilot.

  • is this music by Ennio Morricone?

  • No, it's from The "Kill Bill" movie soundtrack ;-)

  • Hi Bruce, I just watched this film again after a year and I'm happy to report that it hasn't lost ANY of its educational or entertainment value!

  • Have you thought about starting a chess club?

  • Beautiful. I don't have the balls to do this!

  • do you know if the bolero3 is good for xc? iam planning to get trained first but iam not taking my instructors word on what paraglider i should buy since he recommends ozone even though mojo3 seems like a good glider

  • Thanks for the advice, im about to put im my order for a Gin Sprint glider. I will be doing mostly top to bottoms in the alps for a while, i dont have many hours, ive been flying an Ozone Elelmnt so far, i hope this glider will be more agile!
