  • He's not japanese canadian.

  • If he's not, how can he represent Japan then?

  • Where is Mervin Tran from? Where do they train?

  • I'm curious as well. They are training in Canada, must be Japanese Canadians?

  • YAY!!! I love my brother and am so proud of him =D

  • He's from Regina, saskatchewan and stopped singles so he can focus more on learning pairs. Now he trains in montreal with his partner. He's not a japanese canadian, he's a chinese/vietnamese/cambodian canadian. However, he's able to represent Japan because only one of the skaters in a pair needs the citizenship of the country that is being represented. Also, he realizes the confusion that he's causing with his presence in the skating world and he apologizes for that.

  • @tripleflip2008 he's lived in canada, and narumi moved to canada to train with mervin in 2007.

  • @tripleflip2008 he was born in canada, but found narumi through a coach who recommended him to narumi. for the 2014 sochi olympics, he may have to give up his canadian citizenship to compete for japan w narumi

  • Since when were midgets allowed to skate? I'd spin her like a spinning top.

  • @skateMOIvo Tran is a vietnamese last name. The chinese equivalent is Chan. However Mervin Tran is full viet. Some sources say he is vietnamese/cambodian which i think maybe his mom is cambodian and his dad definately has to be vietnamese.

  • thats ur brother?? lucky duck!

  • I'm wondering what are they thinking of future? They can go to the world championship but they can't go to olympic.I think sorry to japanese ladies they have to find a partner from outside of country .

  • Great job Narumi! am so happy to see that you are approaching your goal. Can't believe that i didn't see you for 3 years. wish you all the best! am so proud of you as i wrote in your recommendation letter 3 years ago!
