I love the song and the language, so I've tried to learn how to pronounce the lyrics (without any help!)... This is the result. I know I have no accent, but does it at least sound intelligible?

Please comment, I would really appreciate any sincere opinion!

  • I have copied this from a wikipedia site....Queen Elisabeth of Romania, the writer Carmen Sylva, stayed in Llandudno for five weeks in 1890 and on taking her leave described Wales as "a beautiful haven of peace".[7] Translated into Welsh as "hardd, hafan, hedd" it became the town's official motto.

  • Wow, thank you! She was right, I've seen pictures, and the landscape is truly amazing. I wish I could visit too one day!

  • I have a friend in Romania who loves the welsh language and I frequently visit there and love it ,its a beautifull country like Wales,i must say your accent is nice ,did you know there is a street in Llandudno named after your queen , who used to visit Wales and started to learn the language

  • I'm glad you like our country, it is beautiful indeed. I had no idea about our queen visiting Wales, thanks for mentioning it and thanks for your appreciation :)

  • Da iawn not an easy language to learn but you are doing well those rrrsss take a bit of rolling dont they what is your nationallity

  • Oh wow that is fantastic!! I have never heard Welsh spoken with a hint of an Eastern European accent. Your pronunciation is excellent, it was wonderful to listen to.

  • da iawn, yndrech dda.

well done, a good effort I think the accent is the only giveaway.

  • Dwi'n siarad saesneg fel mamiaith, ond dwi'n byw gyda gymraes, a dwi'n clywed cymraeg bob dydd. (English is my first language, but I live with a welsh-speaker, and we use both languages at home).

I understood your Welsh perfectly. You have a heavy, and very strange accent, but it doesn't damage the language in any way. You are certainly not making a fool of yourself, in fact I found your Welsh rather delicious.

  • Da iawn.
