  • Great movie from a great Eric Ambler novel - superbly cast too. You TCM USA viewers are lucky, you get a much wider range of films than we do on the UK TCM - we get the same 20 movies repeated again and again.

  • This is such a great movie! It's so nice seeing Peter playing just a normal guy caught up in abnormal circumstances. Thanks for posting this!

  • @ladylove1972 I never thought that there would be a movie with Peter Lorre cast as the hero!

  • The Ledru-Rollin metro station doesn't look at all like this "re-creation" of it!

  • I must say that as a ticket seller myself that is fast service.

  • This first came to my notice in the 1970's when AJP Taylor the historian introduced it as his favourite film. (His second was WC Field's 'Never Give a Sucker an Even Break). I love this sequence on the Paris metro - surely an influence on the subway scene in 'French Connection'. where 'Frog 1', gesturing with his hand, leaves Doyle standing, then running, on the platform.

  • Why do we get such a pathetic version of TCM in the UK? Why isn't this great movie on DVD? When will the studios realise that we want it ALL - ALL their back catalogue!

  • The problem is it's not even on DVD! How could Warner Bros overlook such a classic?

  • This has to be one of the greatest and most under rated and little known movies of all time . Its up there with Casablanca and The Maltese Falcon , only better ( not to say they arnt great films - they are ) but this is just as good as it gets . Fabulous . Theyll never be able to do anything like this again. I think probably my favorite film of all time.

  • Yes, TCM is hopeless in the UK. We're starved of old black and white movies on TV. There just isn't enough kindness in the world!

  • Great movie! Watch it if you get the chance- TCM has it on their program once in a while.

  • Hi! I just read you comment! Do you know where I can upload the film or find a dvd with this film? I'm so anxious to see it

    Thanks anyway
