Fishing on Cold Lake in Alberta. Barely a ripple on the water and lots of sun. What a great day!

  • Sure was a nice day out. Nice catch, mind giving me the info about what gear you were using? Line and lure mostly. Thanks.

  • I don't even remember as I was taken out for the first time with a friend. If I get in touch with him, I'll reply with the details. I saw your ice fishing catch. Nice!

  • Nice fish. Should have thrown it back . Smaller fish are better to eat. A fish that size is more important to the system. Just my 2cents. Nice fish!!

  • I usually would but couldn't resist this one. Great eating fish. Good opinions welcome. Thanks.

  • Nice catch looks like your just off the west end ya how far .

  • what sucks is that in saskatchewan u can

keep 1 over 65 cm and any size under the limit

  • i swim in that lake lol

  • Beauty trout buddy. They get some real lunkers up in Cold Lake. Used to go there every summer with my family when I was younger. I am now 22, just bought my first boat and can't wait to head up there this summer for some monster Pike and Trout. One of the nicest lakes in Alberta. Have a good season bud...

  • for cold lake i recommend down riggers using pink ladies and for bait giant anchovies with weighted heads, i live in nipawin saskatchewan and i love going there to fish for lakers, its a nice break from walleye and pike.

  • I see you guys are using the flasher with hot spot apex lure, looks like its working pretty good! I live down in California now but may be up that way in August and head out to Cold lake with my grandpa and family. Just wondering how fast you were trolling. We've fisher there before but usually use the downriggers set anywhere from 50-80 feet down with the Manistee or Williams spoons. Maybe I'll have to try a pink lady too, never used one before, just put a couple lines on each down rigger.

  • Thanks!

  • Awesome eating fish, although this probably is a good spawner the smaller lake trout, 5-7 pounds are your number one spawners. I would have kept it to. Try smoking it with good amount brown sugar, little worchestire, little soy sauce.
