Kaiser Karl was a very intelligent Emperor who very unfortunately had to experience the downfall of one of the world's greatest monarchies. He was a perfect successor to Franz Joseph and a true voice of peace in WW1. Ruhe in Frieden.

This is a man who grew closer to God than most....Austria is crippled without him.

Karl would have been a great leader for that country, he surely would have avoided the war and probably would have changed the form of state to a federal monarchy. All my respect to this person.
I have always admired Karl, the last emperor of Austria Hungary. I notice his voice is quiet and not threatening. Compare this to the screaming of Hitler and his cohorts.
Karl was a devout Catholic. He inherited a terrible war with no possibililty of victory. He was a gentle man who wished the best for all mankind. He also had a wonderful wife, Zita. She lived to the grand old age of 96.
It is a tragedy that Karl was not emperor in 1914. Who knows what horrors might have been averted?
