Definitely influenced by Jensen. A good thing, too, the more people that carry the message, the better.

Anarcho-primitivists are ridiculously idealistic. I've read Jensen, and I'll admit he's a good writer (based on his book Walking on Water). But when it comes down to it Keith, Jensen and co are promoting a theory which is not practical and fails to address the fundamental problem. Even if we somehow destroyed industrial civilisation, it doesn't address the issue of how we would still witness the same problems reemerge. The focus should be on class society and how that creates destructive culture

@timothyforvendetta His influence is there. Especially when he talks about civilisation and cities.

Seems like derrick Jensen wrote this. Sounds like derrick Jensen talking......Derrick Jensen? is that you?

@FertileGroundWhatcom I assumed ya'll were essentially the conference organizers, sorry. I didn't say it's their only job to break up resistance, but since we can agree that is one of their functions, it doesn't make sense to me that you'd continue defending them. The cops protect the property of the rich. The cops murder and subjugate the homeless, the kids, the resistant.... Please don't defend them.
-
@DeflocculatedDentist As I said already, we did not invite them to the event. Nonetheless, it is a vast oversimplification of the police to say that their only role is to break up resistance. That is one of their roles; another is to provide security at events. That was their function here.

@FertileGroundWhatcom That's why I'm wondering why you'd invite them there. That would only make me less comfortable as a radical, because it's their job to break up resistance.
Finally...the truth is out there. Awesome work, you guys give humanity some hope that perhaps reason can one day win out. If not, the future of our species is wholesale global contamination (wonder if they that rule from the shadows like the idea of humanity having to buy the air they breath?) or outright extinction with the chance of something greater having been lost.

I did not mean to defend the police; they are an oppressive institution. But I will defend those who feel the need for police protection: many women I know keep their phone in their hand with '911' already dialed when they are walking alone at night. My point is that it is too simple to say "never have any interactions with the police."
One of my favorite quotes is from Arundhati Roy: "Never simplify what is complicated, or complicate what is simple."
