  • RIP

  • They were the last of the good Republicans. From Reagan onwards the Republican party has been ruled by snake oil salesmen who want to game the system to serve themselves.

Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Ford, for showing that there was a time when Republicans weren't just all out thieves.

  • @GAYDOLFSHITLER1969 Thats awful. Elvis is a king. Im not sure who Michael Landon is, but Marlon Bando is great too. MJ I dont care about.

  • A compassionate person, an activist for choice, & the ERA She was a role model for many women at a time when both political parties thought it was proper to work for justice and equal rights. In 1980 things changed. It became fashionable to criminalize the poor & ppl of color.. This is not Betty Ford's legacy. The lunacy of today's Republican Party does not reflect the philosophy of Betty Ford or her husband. May she RIP; I'm sure she was appalled at what being a Republican has come to mean.

  • @AviatorZER0 You could whip out anything you want, since just about everything you whip out is nonsensical.

You slide now from claiming that I offered up a non-word, to suggesting that I somehow leap forwarded in time (conceptually) without words. It doesn't matter if you say from the 12th century onward, or the 25th century onwards, the distinction is still the same.

I get along with life. I do not admit folly to fools.

  • @threeofwands Sorry, I should have dug up evidence on basic grammar that any decently educated person has. Want me to whip out my 4th grade English book?

In other words, imagine you tell someone, "From the 19th century onward, technology has advanced rapidly." That person will undoubtedly assume you're talking about 1801-present. It does NOT mean 1901-present. We have a word for that, it's called "after."

Just admit your folly and get on with your life.

  • @AviatorZER0 I will also mention that, when you suggest that people do certain contradictory things, such as being logical when they are actually illogical; rational when they are actually irrational; literate when they are actually illiterate; etc. is a claim of logical contradiction that, if it doesn't require some kind of proof, at least requires a shred of argument.

You provide nothing of the sort and therefore fall under a suggestion (not an insult) that is more than just "unwarranted".

  • Dear Betty, you will be missed. You were great in the "Golden Girls" and "Driving Miss Daisy". Rest in peace...you were also great as the rich old lady rom "Gilligan's Island".

  • who cares

  • @AviatorZER0 Yes, Reagan must be included, because, in regards to my point, he is the beginning of the problem.

"Onwards": In a direction or toward a position that is ahead in space or time: forward. According to the Oxford English Dictionary (OED).

  • @threeofwands 'From Reagan onwards' is doubly wrong, because A: It INCLUDES Reagan, and B: 'onwards' isn't a word, only 'onward' is.

Also, you clearly have no idea what logic is, yet you're throwing it around as if you do. That's illogical.

  • @AviatorZER0

"After Reagan" means post - Reagan, what came after Reagan, i.e. Bush Sr, , Clinton, Bush Jr., Obama.

"From Reagan onwards" means what came after Reagan, i.e. Bush Sr. et.al. They mean exactly the same thing.

"Before Reagan" would mean something different than 'From Reagan onwards."

As I mentioned, your logic skills are spotty at best.
