  • No corruption in Singapore? Lee Kuan Yew is minister mentor, his stupid son is PM and his daughter-in-law is using our reserves. Big time corruption is all over.

  • What permit? Did PAP CASE have permit to hold its rally?

  • who is minding the minders..??..

power corrupts.. absolute power .. etc.. well U know the rest..

the constitution and our rights must be protected.. not allowed to be whittled away by any passing govt.. benevolent or not..

  • what makes you think that the PAP is benevolent.. is it just bcos they say so..??..

  • Listen to the quote Benjamin Franklin said, it's truth. You actually believe we should give up our liberties for security from the state? Who will protect us from the state then? Seriosley, look at North Korea, is that what you want? Human rights are gone in police states. You don't have the freedom to leave your country, you can't speak out against your totalaritian government, the government picks out the jobs for you. That's bullshit, fuck the government.

  • Did you read my entire post? I think it was rather obvious that I misquoted him purposely for the sake of humour. :)

No, not a communist. For example, a communist would believe that all men are equal in a very unusually literal sense of the word. No, you were right the first time.

Hahahha, that was the first time anyone actually asked to be backed up by someone during a debate in which I was somehow involved. Like I'd change my mind because two people were saying something instead of one :).

  • Actually no, he said "Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both." The exact opposite of what you said. You seriosley sound like a communist right now. I don't want a government telling me what I can or can't do. Look at some police states right now. North Koreans can't even leave their country, Don't even get me started on China and Soviet Russia. Can someone please back me up on this?

  • Well, not necessarily ALL of your liberties! Just a few of them that you do not need so much. Things you'd also be happy to give up for the greater good, order and security!

Didn't your Benjamin Franklin say :"Those Who Sacrifice Liberty For Security Deserve Happiness. All Glory to The Party!" ?

(or maybe that's just what the historic documents are GOING to say when we're done with them ;) )

  • Exactly, in a police state, all your liberties are gone, so freedom of speech would make you a criminal. Yeah, police states are GREAT. Everybody loves North Korea :)

  • I should have you arrested for expressing disloyalty to The Party. ;)

Seriously, what are you saying? You feel that laws shouldn't be enforced rigorously? If you're a criminal, then I bet you wouldn't like to live in a police state I guess.

  • Fucking nazi, I can care for myself, thank you. I don't need a police state "looking out" for me

  • A police state would be fine, as long as it at least was benevolent. A system which sole aim is the welfare of the people. The aim of this system is simply to protect this system. Circular and wonderfui.
