A burning tree launches like a javelin and lands on Oregon 138E during the Williams Creek Fire. A backhoe clears the debris right away.

  • Actually it came down on it's own. We saw that it was burning about 20 feet up from the ground and was going to come down any minute. We closed all access past it for safety. The loader was already in the area clearing other trees and rocks off the highway. The operator used it to hold fire traffic on his side and then to push the mess out of the way as soon as possible to reopen access for firefighters.

  • Heh, Go clean it up Tommy!

  • Was this done on purpose? I'm assuming that it was cut down by firefighters since the backhoe was right there after it fell.
