Logic Puzzle and Hellraiser Tribute:

One demon always spoke the truth, one demon always lied, one demon spoke both truth and lies. Can you determine which demon was the only one that could help me escape?

Demon 1:
I cannot help you
I always speak truthfully
I never leave this place

Demon 2:
I cannot help you
My statements are always false
I never leave this place

Demon 3:
I cannot help you
Only one of my statements is false
I do not like it here

Hint: The statements of the second demon in particular were worth examination.

Solution: The second demon's second statement must be false. If it were true, it would be a contradiction. And if the demon's statement "My statements are always false" is itself false, then it is not the second demon that always lies. The second demon then is the demon that sometimes tells the truth and sometimes lies. Given this information we know that the third demon's second statement must also be false. Through elimination we know that the third demon must be the demon that always lies, and therefore the first demon is the one that always speaks truthfully.

The third demon's first statement is false, the third demon was the one that helped me out of the maze.

  • cool story breh

  • @ARKillz3 Thanks, "breh." I made this years ago, so you'll understand if I'm not overly concerned whether or not people like it anymore.

  • idk its still a contridiction even if the second statement is false

  • You know how i figured this out without even a second though? cause all the other demons said (i cant leave here) and the 3rd was the only one who said i dont like it here. so if the other two demons (even if one of them was telling the truth) he said i cant leave, so even if he was telling the truth HE STILL COULDNT HELP. the 3rd said she didnt like it there, so that means lets GO LADY! rofl

  • The Liar paradox is always an odd one for classical logic. on the one hand, it is true that it is false, so it is false. On the other hand, if it is true that it is false, then it is true.

flash backs to logic class, and my headache starts once again. still, a fun video.

  • that was a ok movie. could be alot better i think. some cool ideas tho. mr teeths

actully demon 2 and 3 helped you out. with out demon 2 you would have never known that demon 3 is the one who always tells of truth.
