This melody is taken from a gospel song called "Rank Stranger." So thought it has different words and so forth the chords the melody and the beat etc. is exactly from "Rank Stranger." Look on YouTube for Ralph Stanley or just the gospel song "Rank Stranger" and you will see what i am saying and agree. Sorry Hasil but not that original on this one.

I can certainly hear Rank Stranger in this particularly when you hear the bridge in the Stanley Brothers version (where the word "beautiful" gets used a lot). But Hasil did domuch more than just change the words. My guess he had heard Rank Stranger some time...and adapted it to Beautiful Hills. Hard to say he consciously did it ... who knows how much he ever did consciously?!
