My Entry Into Russ' Poetry Contest

"Your Gift"

Do not give me things of gold,
For that is not what my heart can hold.

Do not give me money so green,
For you see thats what makes people mean.

I do not wish a new car to go so fast,
I cherish this life I have and want it to last.

It does not matter that we do not have a house to call our own,

Instead we've made this apartment our home.

A feast upon our table is not what we crave, but to break bread daily with those we love now thats truly a blessing from heaven above.

Under our Christmas tree there arent many gifts you see, and thats just the way it has to be.

We have a son who is sick, he has leukemia; sad but true, so the gifts that weve been given; came the whole year through!

They came in strange forms of things that people might question, but to us life saving and carry a message! So if a gift you wish to give us this year please pick from this list and bless all the friends & strangers who so happily gave and donated BLOOD, PLATELETS, ORGANS, HATS & FRESH FROZEN PLASMA; For your gifts have given us one things you see My Sons Life Back To Me!
