In 1956, Heinsohn was chosen as the Boston Celtics 'regional', or 'territorial', draft pick. In his first season, Heinsohn played in an NBA All-Star Game, was named the NBA Rookie of the Year, and won his first championship ring. He was part of a Celtics squad that won eight NBA titles in nine years, including eight in a row between 1959 and 1966. In NBA history, only teammates Bill Russell and Sam Jones won more championship rings during their playing careers. During his playing career, Heinsohn was named to six All-Star teams. On the day his teammate and fellow Holy Cross Crusader Bob Cousy retired, Heinsohn scored his 10,000th career point. His number 15 was retired by the Celtics in 1965.

  • Its just so disappointin that no playa can shoot the hook shot consistently anymore. You seen the highlight at 1:32. No playa today can shoot it that far. The best innovators of the hook shot that I have seen were George Mikan, Heinsohn, Wilt, Kareem, Shaq and Dwight.

  • @strip4megirl goose tatum created the hook sot not heinsohn not kareem

  • heinsohn created the hook shot!

  • WOULD SWALLOW HIS CUM IN A SECOND! A REAL MAN!!!

  • @Eduard. You are a fool. Tommy is good to give opposing players props. So what if he is a bit of a homer. ALL NBA commentators that do their home teams games are.

  • @eduardillo85 Do you really think they would allow him to drink and do television? You may have your opinions, but never wish death on someone.

  • Tommy is 76 years old and still going strong doing work for CSSNE on Celtics games. "He's in the Johnny Most mold, he bleeds Green. Tommy Heinsohn played a big part on 8 championship teams and coached the Celtics to 2 NBA tiles. Heinsohn remains the only Celtic who returned to the league after his playing days and never worked for another team

  • Tommy point!!!

  • Him and George Mikan were doin the skyhook long before Kareem Abdul-Jabbar came into the game. A lot of youngstas dont know that. Back in those days mostly everyone was doin the hook. Kareem just made it more popular.
