Music from the talented late Hector MacRae of Brora Sutherland. Hector was a well known gifted accordion player and singer who carried his own band and toured and played and hundreds of events around the north of Scotland. Over the years he had the following musicians to name but a few in his band, Tom Floydd (drums) Ivor Smith (fiddle) Lachlaw Campbell (2nd accordion) Mary macKenzie (piano) Stuart Rathie (piano) Alistair Forbes (bass) George Pirie (piano) Kenneth Clark (guitar) Robbie Raffin (bass) Kevin Jack (guitar) John Grant (drums) Allan Ritchie (fiddle) Donnie Matheson (drums) and perhaps a few others along the way. Hector and all in his band were always full of good spirit and ensured a happy evening where ever you met them. please enjoy the music and any memories you may have of Hector & his 'dance' band. These recordings were taken from his 1976 album'Tour of Shetland' from Thule records - produced by R.W. Bayes, engineered by Billy Kay & cover photo by Bobby Tulloch. Quality is perhaps not the best as it was transferred from an old cassette. Enjoy.
