Students gathered outside the National party conference in Wellington on 14 August 2011 to protest Nationals continuing support for ACT's destructive bill to end universal membership of students associations. Here are some choice excerpts from the 'positive parody' protest.
We started just before the conference broke for lunch. Prime Minister John Key (0:30), Social Development Minister Paula Bennett(2:00), Tertiary Education Minister Steven Joyce (4:30) spoke to the crowd.
Senior Cabinet also announced a change in National's position (6:30) on the Bill. Shona gave a great interactive poem about VSM to the crowd too(7:15), calling on National to put forward a fair alternative to ACT's Bill.
Thanks to everyone who came and used their voice!
Thanks Andreas for the video and editing!
Cheers, NZUSA.
