Beat the Crusher (With Adverts) Part 1 - 1999

Well, here it is, in crappy sound and picture: Beat the Crusher, in its entirety (well, almost, but we'll get to that later).

This is a VHS from 1999 which I have treasured for many a year, simply because this is one of the funniest and most obscure game shows I've ever seen in my life. Sit back and relax, kids. It's gonna be a bumpy ride.

We start with the later half of an advert for some Acclaim game - I don't know what the game is, but I'm sure one of you clever people can analyse this ad and tell me what the game is.

Then an advert for some show with I've never heard of, called Ultraviolet. I didn't understand the ad, but I remember being enthralled by its surreal content.

Then an ident for my favourite incarnation of Sky One, followed by the intro to Beat the Crusher. It's thirty seconds of Freddie Starr and Melinda Messenger driving the Crusher around the roads of Britain like they've just escaped from some mental hospital. Honestly, knowing Freddie's history I wouldn't be surprised...

The show starts, and Freddie terrorises the members of the public in a shopping centre in Port Talbot. He crushes a man's glasses into pieces, and then crushes Peter Evans' shed (unlucky, mate).

Then they try to find the coolest man in Port Talbot, with hilarious results. Seriously, this has to be seen to be believed.

After the winner is crowned, we go to our first advert break. See you in Part 2...
