highly unlike that the bird was still frozen the problem was that the bird was dropped in way to fast, it must be lowered slowly into the oil or it will bubble over every time.

Was the bird frozen?
Was it wet?
Did you overfill or use a turkey too big for the fryer?

The oil level was good, we suspect the inside was still a little frozen... it was suppose to be a unfrozen 'fresh' turkey... but you can never believe the grocery market these days... it cooked in about an hour and a half and was delicious!
