can be, but most of them breeders just cut...

in Europe it's normal that aussie has a long tail. that's better.

@sunprinces Purebred Aussies are born docked like Boxers, Min Pins, Dobies, Bulldogs, etc. Tail = other genes. Still wonderful dogs (I have one) but don't meet Aussie breed standard in US. Reputable breeders here don't cut puppies' tails off. They're selective about genetics.

@22mollie22 Australian shepherds can often have bobbed tails, "naturally docked" but a share of them have long tails. It's assumed the bobbed tail would be less of a hazard during herding where it can get stepped on.
