  • I have a similer recording of a program called 'All Change at Evercreech Junction', from around the same time. So I wonder if it's part of a series.

  • i have the start of 'All change at Evercreech Junction' but then SOMEONE pulled out the arial half way through. but 'All change' was made a year later so don't think its a series.

  • its so depressing when you think of all the years of effort, toil and sweat that went into building that line. then along comes some half witted minister for transport, and a man in the soap powder industry and the whole lot is torn up and destroyed within months. nothing is sacred to the people in charge unfortunately

  • Dr Beeching had a side-kick called Phillip Raymond Shirley. When Beeching was kicked out, Shirley lost his job and came to Australia and applied the same mind-set to the New South Wales railways with murderous results at Granville in 1978. No maintanence resulting in a Lewisham type disaster.

  • The New Somerset and Dorset Railway was formed in 2009 to reopen the old Somerset and Dorset Railway from Bournemouth to Bath and to Glastonbury and Wells as a new main line railway. They have acquired several station sites and some sections of trackbed along the route. The New Somerset and Dorset Railway is progressing well and with ever growing support for them. Remember, the more support they get, the closer we are to seeing the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway rebuilt to its former glory.

  • Pure Nostalgia...

  • peter smith, my grandad, so proud, heard the stories from his books first hand..

  • Unbelievable footage,Ivo has allowed many people to learn what a real railway was like.

  • Ivo Peters enabled younger generations to see the wonderful steam trains that we once had on the finest quality film that was available at that time. Brilliant

  • i have both "all change" and "Return to Evercreech" ivo's filming was some of the best archive railway filming

  • Ah the famous S and D,what a tragedy when it was closed.I can not imagine how much money this line would take in Tourist Pounds alone these Days. There is a huge market for real "nostalgia" and the S and D Is wallowing in it.I wish a preservation Society had got the S and D before they uprooted the Rails. The likes of the very good Severn Valley would be eclipsed and the Locomotives would get a very good workout.

  • @01276 I have all of it - email rafrizze@tesco.net if you want a copy at cost only. Regards, AF

  • All very Heartwarming, I also find it "brilliant" that the Good Guys do get recognition

it is a lesson we seem to have forgot.
