IEPS didnt exist till I was in high school i went yo 2 duffrent jr highs I did get some help im 7th grade and didnt have to take gym my aunt who I was with when went to 8th grade imsited I was normal though gym class was often painful I'm glad I took their reg gym class twice a week cause though teacher was a beep shevtaight me to swim even if only couldnt move arms and legs together I learned to swim with just arms. I IEP is telling what ur child can't do...instead of helping the child with their needs, they bash on them! I remember when I had the IEP because I was "depressed" but going to special ed classes made me even more depressed.

This is not how the IEP is supposed to be. I'm sorry this was your experience. We need to try and change the system. I hope you found support for your depression. If you still have an IEP, and would like support to make it better, if you tell me what state you live in I can tell you who to call.

Are you attending your meeting? I'd let them know that you'd like to opt out of your IEP services because they are not helping you. Do you know what your needs are? That is what do you need to be successful in school? I sincerely hope you do not get your ass beat. Please let me know if you need help.

Proskater- Do you mean how do you get out of your IEP? You can opt out of services- some of it depends on your age.

It sounds like the Special Education system really failed you. I'm sorry that the teachers and staff that were supposed to support you made these terrible assumptions about your intelligence.
