20 of the world's top professional snowboarders will compete in a head-to-head competition in New York City's premier snowboarding rail-jam competition. The Union Square Street Sessions presented by Jeep® will include Olympic silver medalist Danny Kass, defending champion Eddie Wall, as well as many other riders, all of whom will be striving for the $30,000 prize purse. New this year, the champion will also receive the Mayor's Cup trophy.

Also joining the field will be a highly competitive group of up-and-coming athletes selected at two Street Sessions qualifiers to be held at Mountain Creek Resort in Vernon Valley, N.J., on Dec. 15, 2007, and Sunday River Resort in Bethel, Maine, on Dec. 22, 2007.

Last year a crowd of more than 10,000 winter sports enthusiasts packed Union Square to see two dozen of the sport's best performers showcase their skills on the largest customized urban rail ever produced for an event of this kind in New York City. This year, the 40' customized urban rail will have a 2008 Jeep Wrangler built right into it, so competitors will actually ride over the Jeep.

In addition to watching airborne snowboarders light up the New York City skyline on February 7th, attendees can also visit the energy-packed action sports block party at Union Square preceding the competition (from 3-6 pm) for athlete autograph sessions, free giveaways and product demonstrations from such companies as Jeep, Oakley, Red Bull, Mountain Creek Resort, Sunday River Resort and more.

The event, presented in partnership with New York City Parks and Recreation and the New York City Sports Commission, serves as a prelude to the NYC Parks & Recreation's Winter Jam, a pro/am rail jam and winter carnival with snowshoeing and cross country skiing held in Central Park on Saturday, February 9.
