As debates rage across Europe on austerity measures and social spending cuts, this report focuses on the hundreds of thousands of children who risk being left behind in the world's richest countries. The UNICEF Innocenti Research Centre Report Card 9 The Children Left Behind ranks, for the first time, 24 OECD countries and asks how far behind are rich nations allowing their most disadvantaged children to fall. The report argues that the consequences of falling behind are enormous for children, as they are for the economy and societies. This is an interview with the report's author.
inspirational! children in the richest countries are suffering and deserve more. money is being spent on war, bank bailouts and a never ending deficit. the world needs a big change and it starts with protecting/supporting our kids. every child deserves the same. money is just paper...basic needs should not have a pricetag.
