The intention is that of realizing an offshore complex comprising a marina, residential buildings, and a luxury hotel. These will be located on an artificial island, which can be built at different distances from the mainland.
Access to the complex will be via a sort of bridge.
The primary concept behind this proposal is that of locating a structure away from the shore so as to eliminate its environmental impact on the surrounding coastline, which will remain untouched.
Another key feature of the Green Island is its energy self-sufficiency. This is made possible by integrating technologies designed to harness energy from the water, sun and wind.
The ring-shaped channel created between the island and the breakwaters is designed to capture the natural movement of the sea, whose effects will be used to generate electricity using underwater turbines. A second series of turbines could be fixed to the bridge's piers. These will work whenever wave conditions on the surface of the sea are right.
