Haben or to have in German is a very common verb. You use it all the time and it is the foundation of the bast tense that you will learn later in the series. All from a nice view of the Frauenmunster in Zurich.
I have - Ich habe. You have - du hast (informal), You have - formal - Sie haben, he has - er hat, she has - sie hat, we have - wir haben, you guys have - ihr habt, they have - sie haben, you guys have (formal) - Sie haben.
You use the accusative case for the direct object or thing you have in the sentence.
I have a son. Ich habe einen Sohn.
I have a daughter. Ich habe eine Tochter.
We are hungry. Wir haben hunger.
He has it. Er hat es.
