my cat is like 10 and only developed these symptoms about 2 yeas ago or so....only happens when he purrs. he starts coughing like he has a hairball but nothing ever comes up. last weekend he did this and then had a really hard time breathing and his mouth was open and his tongue was almost sticking out. His chest feels larger too, I'm not sure. He just felt different. it's getting worse so I'm def taking him to the vet because he's obviously not coming out of it

My 4-mth-old kitten has the same problem too. I'm not sure if it's from the new food I have been feeding her for a week.

Doctor, my cat is having a hard time breathing. It's been four days. Today when I picked her up, it seemed to cause her discomfort. When she went down on the floor, her breathing was labored and seemed to be breathing from her mouth. She's 12 1/2 years old. She does sleep a lot.
