GREAT lost classic.....inventive comedy about six proto-yuppies who try to escape the pressures of work by gathering for a weekly basketball meet--albeit one that turns into deeply contemptuous rivalry. The six men eventually concoct an all-out, find-the-hidden-basketball contest that erupts into outright felonies!
ABSOLUTELY TOP-NOTCH CAST includes Bill Bixby, McLean Stevenson, Leonard Frey, Rene Auberjonois, Doug McClure, Robert Walden, Loretta Swit, and Ron Glass.
Written by Bruce Paltrow (creator of "St. Elsewhere").
Premiered October 9, 1973 on "The ABC Friday Night Movie."
CRITICAL PRAISE:
"Uniformly excellent performances by well-picked cast make film believeable." - Leonard Maltin, TV MOVIES
"Fascinating, forthright story.....the theme is fully explored, how men never really get over the phase of their lives when they excel in sports or at least have a fighting chance at being one of a team." - Steven H. Scheuer, MOVIES ON TV
Thanks for up loading this, as a fan of Doug McClure, I have looked for it here before.

After watching the new "Take the Money and Run" TV show last night, I had a flash from my teen childhood today about his film. I remember it in bits and pieces and thought I'd check if anyone posted it online. Thanks!!! It was fun to watch this fun TV movie again. I remember it being more fun, and it's angry, edgy tone surprised me. I guess I filtered it out in my young mind. lol.
