On September 28, 2010, Governor Chris Christie hosted a town hall meeting on Old Bridge, New Jersey to discuss his proposed reform of the state's education system. Over 200 people were present in the Richard Allen Cooper Civic Center to hear the governor's presentation.
In this part, Mr. Christie gives some prefatory remarks, after which he will explain his five part reform package. His presentation will conclude with a Q&A session with the audience.
Wow this guy is GOOD.
I have question. Why can't the teachers be tested for 8th grade math, and if they cannot do it FIRE them. irrespective of which class they teach or which subject they teach if a person calls himself/herself as a "teacher" then he/she MUST be able to do 8th grade math.
Tell me people how many of our teachers can do 8th grade math?

In clip after clip, I am thunderstruck at the enormous contrast between Christie, who talks about very specific, tangible issues and the vague platitudes of so many other politicians I watch. Long live Chris Christie!

You can spend 50K per pupil per year in Newark, NJ and it won't make a bit of difference. The problem in Newark is not the amount of money that's spent. It's the kids who go to school there and the families they come from. We are wasting time and money. New Jersey can spend itself into bankruptcy and it won't make a difference until things change in the families of these children.
