As I said in my New Day Rising video
"I first I heard about Husker Du the same day I first heard of Bad Brains. It was a Sunday afternoon in March 2004 (9th grade),when I was watching a Vh1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock" Ranking at 68, was a band I'd never heard of before with a weird name. The name Husker Du remained in my mind ever since. Two years later I finally bought my first Husker album, Zen Arcade, and eventually their other albums. It's raw, it's noisy, it's intense, it's hardcore, it's everything a band should be"
Everything Falls Apart is a wonderful overview of their early material. It's hardcore all right, but with a hint of melody. The weren't your run of the mill hardcore band, they brought a lot to the table. I got this album in August 2007, and the songs I pick are "Gravity" and "In A Free Land".

Hey fROMIOWA, thanks for posting. If you're into the obscure 80s stuff, you should check out Nomeansno. They still tour quite a bit and are one of the two greatest Canadian power trios (Rush is the other)
I'd agree that "In a Free Land" is probably my favorite song by the Huskers, but this one's up there too.
The Huskers never got the attention they deserved, this is true, but then again most pioneers in music don't, with some notable exceptions like The Pixies.
i bought this in 1993 and it was the same thing as when i heard joy division's closer and the jam's in the city it was like an enciclopedia of riffs bands from the 90's took just they did it in polished radio friendly way missing the rawness that made the huskers so damn good.
